Hertii.com Experience

Hertii.com is an "emergency preparedness" training and consulting firm providing onsite emergency preparedness training in Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI), and Hazardous Materials Incidents (HMI) for hospitals, businesses, and environmental clients with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. This training provides hospitals and HCFs with the information and tools they need to handle these types of emergencies confidently, while protecting their EDs and hospital staff from contamination during emergency response to WMD event or serious HMI.

Training is designed to provide hospitals and health care facilities with the information, training materials and skills they will need to identify, develop and train their own emergency response teams (HERT) as outlined in OSHA 3152 “Hospitals and Community Emergency Response -- What You Need to Know,” dated 1997, “OSHA Best Practices for Hospital-Based First Receivers of Victims for Mass Casualty Incidents Involving the Release of Hazardous Substances,” dated January 2005, the "CDC Recommendations for Civilian Communities Near Chemical Weapons Depots: Guidelines for Medical Preparedness," Federal Register 60, June 27, 1995 and the Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-8, Subject: National Preparedness, paragraph (2)(d), dated December 17, 2003.

These threats can be classified by using the acronym CBRNE. They include chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive agents and/or materials. Training focuses on the similarities of these types of attacks to that of HMI. Participants will become aware and experienced in their identification, detection, protection, decontamination and treatment of patients resulting from WMD events. Attendees are required to don and doff chemical protective clothing and equipment (CPC&E) designed to be worn to protect skin and respiratory systems of doctors, nurses, emergency response team members, hospital staff, and others health care and treatment providers who will respond during these events. A full training agenda can be seen by clicking on the Programs button to the left of this screen. Hospitals and HCFs should also train their security personnel and police officers as well. These personnel make up the hospital's first line of defense during a MCI as a result of a terrorist's use of a WMD or a HMI.
